Steven Weathers is a bi-lingual television presenter with Shanghai Media Group's (SMG) International Channel Shanghai (ICS). He currently hosts two weekly shows. One is called Minds of Millionaires, which features interviews with CEOs and entrepreneurs of Chinese companies, multinational corporations, and Fortune 500 companies like Microsoft, GE, Montblanc, L'Oreal, Volvo Construction Equipment, Hermes, Saatchi & Saatchi, and many more. The show is rebroadcast globally on CCTV-News and with SMG's overseas broadcast partners. Weathers is also in production for a new social media show.
Weathers has hosted live television broadcasts in Beijing, Shanghai, Hunan, and Hainan. In October 2014, he was the emcee for a celebrity event that was a live broadcast on national TV. He interviewed Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, Jessica Alba, and Olympic medalist Evgeni Plushenko, as well as Chinese film stars. Weathers not only interviewed these stars, but he also translated their replies in Chinese on the spot.
Since 2008, Weathers has hosted documentary features for a show called City Finder, studio interviews for a show called Shanghai Quest, news features, and a twice-weekly show called Shanghai A-Z. In 2010, he presented over 160 broadcast hours for a live show called Expo 360. From 2011 to 2012, he was a travel host for an award-winning urban planning documentary series filmed all around China called China Untapped.
At the 15th Annual Shanghai International Film Festival in 2012, Weathers won the Outstanding Director Award for his short film, Shanghai Stories, which was entered into the "I Love Shanghai Micro Films" competition.
On September 14, 2012, the Shanghai Municipal Government presented Weathers with the prestigious Magnolia Award. Named for Shanghai’s official flower, the Magnolia Award honors foreigners living in Shanghai who contribute significantly to the city’s economy, international relations, business environment, management standards, and community development. Weathers not only received the award but was chosen by the Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office to give the acceptance speech representing the group of award recipients.
Weathers received a Masters degree in English Language and Literature from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
